Devil Survivor 2: Break Record | oprainfall

It’s been a good couple of years for Shin Megami Tensei fans in the U.S.; a lot of games have been released Stateside recently, which hasn’t always been true. The latest game in the series that was just recently announced for the West is Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker, a remake of the sequel to the original game, which itself has a remake that is available on the 3DS right now.

ATLUS has been releasing a ton of new updates and information on the upcoming game, but most recently they’ve released two clips. The first gives us a glimpse of the game’s StreetPass functionality:

StreetPass seems to be pretty simple in this game. Whenever you pass someone with StreetPass enabled, both of you get registered in the other’s system and one of your demon’s stats increase.

The next clip is a bit more interesting, showing several characters from the light novel Durarara!! who are being added to the game as part of a crossover since it shares a character designer with the game:

The three characters from the series: Izaya Orihara, Shizuo Heiwajima, and Headless Rider Celty will be able to be picked up via SpotPass for a limited time starting on January 29th and going through the 18th of February, and can be added to your party in the game. Assuming you live in Japan, of course; it’s unlikely these three will be coming out in the West.

Still though, this was a pretty interesting update as far as I’m concerned. It’s gotten me even more excited for the game’s early Spring release date here in North America. How about you guys, what did you think? Let us know in the comments.
