XSEED Games has officially confirmed Brandish: The Dark Descent for release in the West, and have created a Tumblr blog detailing game’s localization. Originally released for the PSP, Brandish: The Dark Descent is a remake of a Falcom dungeon-crawler on Super Nintendo, with a unique third-person perspective. In Brandish, whenever the player moved in any direction, the entire game world would shift to give you a new view of your surroundings. According to the blog, the PSP remake polishes many of the original’s shortcomings, while also including new content.
This game was originally teased for localization three years ago, but other projects prevented XSEED Games from releasing it up until now. The game has endured, according to the publisher, “because we really like it, and we really want you guys to be able to experience it.” With so many big game publishers reluctant to bring fan-requested niche games like Brandish to the West, it is endearing to see publishers like XSEED Games continue localize games that they know gamers want to play.
Brandish: The Dark Descent is targeted for release this December on PSN, and it will be compatible on PSP, PS Vita, and PlayStation TV.
