Another week in the Media Create charts, another victory for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate as it marches towards 2 million units sold, another victory for 3DS as it marches toward the Game Boy Advance and Super Famicom. In addition, the 3DS has reached 2 million units sold this year, thanks in no small part to the New 3DS and New 3DSLL. It’s still a ways away from the 3.7 million sold at the same time last year, but it’s still a solid number for the generation’s top selling console.
Further down the list, PS Vita makes it back above 10,000 as it closes in on 1 million units sold this year. Meanwhile, PS3 and PS4 all see an increase in sales while the Wii U, which is still gaining ground on last year’s year-to-date numbers, drops another 1,000 units. And even though the system didn’t gain any sales, the Xbox One is shouting out “I’m Alive!” after scoring a Top 20 title this week.
Moving to software, the top new title this week is Jikkyō Powerful Pro Baseball 2014 from Konami. This is a regular arcade baseball series released in the region that began back in 1994 on the Super Famicom. It’s good to see it still going strong.
Next is The Evil Within from Bethesda Software. The game was able to net four ports on the list with the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. It is currently out in the West.
Next is Tales of the World: Reve Unitia from Bandai Namco Games. This is the latest game in the spin-off Tales of the World series. Only one game in this spin-off series has come West but, with Hideo Baba wanting to being more Tales games over, we may have a chance with this one.
Finally, we have Super Hero Generation, also from Bandai Namco. This is a strategy RPG that mixes together Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and Gundam with gameplay that is similar to Super Robot Wars. It sounds like it would be cool to play, but I doubt if this comes over. We may have to get pretty vocal if we want this.
For returning games, Yo-kai Watch 2 is getting closer to 3 million units sold. It needs about 24,000 units per week to make it before year’s end. However, it may have trouble as a third version, Shin’uchi, will release on December 13th. The rest of the returning games seems to be a mix of Nintendo and Square Enix with only a couple of returning games not published by either company. Danganronpa: Another Episode rounded out the Top 20, closing in on 100,000.
