After Lucasfilms was acquired by Disney a few years back, its video game subsidiary, LucasArts, shut its doors shortly after. LucasArts, originally known as Lucasfilm Games, had an extensive and varied library of games across twenty years, including several Star Wars games and both licensed and original adventure games, a genre they helped pioneer. That rich history lives on today, as GOG.com, in conjunction with Disney Interactive and Lucasfilm, has officially released six games from the Lucasfilm Games library, with many more to come.
The six games currently available on GOG are Star Wars: X-Wing Special Edition, Star Wars: TIE Fighter Special Edition, Sam and Max Hit the Road, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, and the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. All six titles will be compatible with modern-day hardware, with more titles planned for release in the near future. This is a great opportunity for gamers–both newcomers who may be curious to try some of these titles, and long time fans to take a stroll down memory lane.
