What an amazing week this has been!
I’m still reeling from all of the sweet new footage of Monolith Soft’s next game. And now, we have word that the next entry in another great series, Dragon Quest, is currently undergoing development.
Series creator Yuji Horii was talking on a Japanese radio show when they hit upon the topic of the series’ future. It was at this point that Horii confirmed that Dragon Quest XI is currently being worked on. He also confirmed that it won’t be on any kind of portable device, be it mobile or handheld console, because he wants to play it on the big screen.
Horii said that he expects development to finish up in time for the series’ 30th anniversary in 2016. He also neglected to mention which console the game is being developed for. So feel free to guess away!
The show will be rebroadcast on the 17th of June; hopefully we can glean some more information then. So far, we’ve been given no other details, images or footage.
I’m certainly hoping this one makes the leap to the West. Which console do you guys think they’re making it for?
Thanks for the translation, Siliconera!
