Ike has just been confirmed as a playable character in the fourth Smash Brothers game, due out later this year across the world.
This announcement has taken me by surprise. I was expecting Ike to get the boot in favour of Chrom, the protagonist from the latest entry in the Fire Emblem series. I am quite happy to see him back though, and looking as muscly as ever. I’m a little flustered.
Ike seems to be sporting his Radiant Dawn look, and appears to have retained the counter and Great Aether from Brawl. It also looks like he’s kept Quick Draw, judging from the third image down on the right; I’m not certain that that’s what it is, but I believe so.
I love Ike to pieces, but was not expecting him back in the next game at all. I thought he was going to be superceded by Chrom. What do you all make of this, and how likely is it that Chrom is going to make it into the roster given both Ike and now Marth are in? Will Sakurai allow Fire Emblem a third representative?
Super Smash Brothers for the 3DS will be out within the next few months, with the Wii U version due out at the end of the year.
