Famitsu has offered us an official first look at Ken Amada and Koromaru as they will appear in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Ken and Koromaru will fight together as a team. Both characters will still be using their original weapons from Persona 3. Ken will still be sporting lances and Kormaru will use combat knives. Naturally, due to the time difference between the settings of Persona 3 and the Persona 4 Arena series, Ken has gotten quite a bit older. He’s now an eighth year student and has definitely gone through a growth spurt since Persona 3 (pictured below).
Although Famitsu didn’t offer many details about how Ken and Koromaru will fight together, they will have a one-hit K.O. move. Their K.O. move will contrast the difficult elements of their Personas, Ken’s Kala-Nemi using light attacks and Koromaru’s Cerberus using dark attacks. However, the move is described as being difficult to pull of.
Additionally, Ken and Koromaru will have playable Shadow counterparts (pictured above). How Ken, Koromaru, and their shadows will fit into the narrative of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax has not yet been made clear.
Ken and Koromaru are two of many characters from Persona 3 joining the Persona 4 Arena Ultimax cast, which is set for release in Japan this August. The game will also be heading to North America this fall for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game is currently available for pre-order and will feature special pre-order bonuses.
