TORIYAMA BRACKET

  • 1. Magus defeats 16. White Rock Shooter with 90% of the vote

The crowd has spoken. Magus is deserving of the title of villain…at least for one round. We’ll see what happens next.

  • 9. Seifer defeats Morganna Mode Gone with 82% of the vote

The crowd has spoken. Gunblades are awesome…or Final Fantasy VIII had a good villain. Either one.

Pokémon - Blue | oprainfall - RPG Villain Tournament

  • 5. Blue defeats 12. Gongora with 67% of the vote

He may be the 5th seed, but it looks like he may have the form of a champion. Blue’s annoyance won readers over and put him in the second round.

  • 4. Ultros defeats 13. Psaro the Manslayer with 75% of the vote

Well, looks like Ultros didn’t have much trouble getting through Psaro’s eight forms. I guess that makes him the only person in history to do that.

  • 6. Heiss defeats 11. Jowy Altreidas with 62% of the vote

A very calculating victory for a man who enjoys using superior tactics on his opponents. He’ll have a more difficult time in the next round, but Heiss can at least claim one victory here.

EarthBound - Pokey/Porky | oprainfall - RPG Villain Tournament

  • 3. Porky Minch defeats 14. King Allant XII with 62% of the vote

A bit closer than I thought it would be. I’m glad to see the Dark Souls fans show up for this. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to overtake Porky as he jumped into the next round.

  • 10. Rubicante defeats 7. Dickson by 2 votes

This is surprising, especially with how well Zanza did and because Dickson was a finalist for Best Villain in the 2012 oprainfall Awards. Oh well, chalk up another win for Final Fantasy.

  • 2. Mithos Yggdrasill defeats 15. Bob Page with 85% of the vote

An easy victory for the Tales of Symphonia villain. We’ll see how well this momentum holds up in the next round.

opMADNESS ’14 RPG Villains: Toriyama Bracket—Second Round | oprainfall

ROUND 2

Given how well Final Fantasy characters have been doing, I’m putting Magus on upset alert for his match-up with Seifer. Sure, Chrono Trigger is beloved by many for its characters (among other things), but there seems to be a lot of momentum for the Final Fantasy franchise. We’ll see if Seifer can shoot into in the third round. Also, this is one of four Squaresoft match-ups in the second round.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

Blue will also have his hands full this round with Ultros, who will look to put a stranglehold on… I just realized how wrong that sentence would end. I’ll stop there.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

Heiss may need the strategy of a lifetime to get past his second-round opponent. Meanwhile, Porky will…just need to be Porky.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

Rubicante survived a close battle with Dickson but may need even more luck to take out Mithos. The Final Fantasy gang might have the momentum, but don’t count out any Tales villain.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
