Sailor Moon Crystal, the first new Sailor Moon anime series since 1996 and 1997’s Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars, will premiere worldwide in a Nico Nico Douga stream in July. The official Sailor Moon 20th anniversary website provides the following synopsis:

Usagi Tsukino is a bit of a dodgy crybaby but a very spirited second-year middle-schooler.

One day, she meets a cat with a picture of a moon on her forehead named Luna. After this chance encounter, she gains the power to transform into Sailor Moon, a beautiful female soldier in a sailor uniform who fights for love and justice!

Together with Usagi the chosen soldier, her allies must find the Silver Crystals of Illusion in order to protect the princess.

But the queen of the Dark Kingdom, Queen Beryl, has hidden the Crystals of Illusion within people in Usagi’s town, since the Crystals possess great power, and her subordinates are causing some strange incidents…

Can Sailor Moon and her fellow Sailor Scouts find the Silver Crystals of Illusion and protect the princess?
