Spiders Studio has announced that their first RPG for the PlayStation 4, Bound by Flame, will be releasing in Q2 of this year. Though the game will also be available for PlayStation 3, that this is the studio’s first RPG foray onto the new Sony system is still very exciting. Walid Miled, producer at Spiders Studio, gave a rundown of the game’s basic plot:

Bound by Flame is an action-RPG set in a dark fantasy universe. In this world, evil wizards, the seven Icelords, have taken over, raising an army of undead and wiping out the living. Your character, who can be male or female, is named Vulcan. Vulcan is a mercenary and explosives expert — a very unlucky one, might I add — that gets himself possessed by a powerful fire demon. I won’t go into details on how that happens; you’ll have to play to find out yourself.

He goes on to say that gamers would be wise not to charge head-on into Bound by Flame‘s gameplay due to its high difficulty level. If you do opt for hand-to-hand combat over magic and stealth, you should be aware of the attacking breaking mechanics; that is to say, you can break an enemy’s attack and vice-versa if you have enough strength. Though if worse comes to worse, you can always dodge, and after battle is over there will be plenty of ways to upgrade and customize your equipment. Keeping an eye on companions in battle will also pay off in the long run.

For more in-depth details, you can read Walid’s full look at Bound by Flame here, and even ask some questions if you’re curious.
