With ten days left to go, WayForward’s Shantae: Half-Genie Hero has finally reached past its initial funding goal on Kickstarter with well over $400,000 (USD). In celebration of their recent success, the development staff promises to post several more stretch goals for the upcoming Shantae title and posted a short and amusing video for everyone to watch:

Upon reaching 90% of its funding goal, WayForward announced in an update on Kickstarter that the full iOS version of the DSiWare classic Shantae: Risky’s Revenge would be free to download for a limited time from the iTunes App Store. According to the update, this is a gift to all the fans who supported them and is still free as of this writing.

Furthermore, WayForward has updated the game to version 1.0.5, which addresses some technical issues that made the game unplayable in the beginning. You will see a welcome screen after the WayForward logo, followed by a Kickstarter ad to lead you straight to Half-Genie Hero‘s page.

Shantae: Risky’s Revenge for iOS is playable on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The game is iPhone 5-optimized and requires iOS 5.1 or later. So if you have an iOS device and want a $4.99 game free, now is a good time to try it out. Plus, who doesn’t like free stuff?
