Dark Souls: Design Works

UDON Entertainment has announced that they will be localizing a very sought after art book based off a very beloved game, Dark Souls: Design Works. The art book was released back in early April of last year in Japan and since then, it has become a sought after item. With many fans wondering if the art book would ever be localized, especially considering the Souls series ever-growing popularity.

The art book contains 128 pages. It will be hardcover like its Japanese counterpart, and priced at $39.99 on UDON’s web store. (Less than $29.99 on Amazon) The art book is slated for release sometime in the Fall of this year. (Listed for October)

Dark Souls: Design Works showcases the grim and haunting artwork behind the fan-favorite Dark Souls game in a gorgeous full-color hardcover collection, matching the Japanese edition. Featuring key visuals, concept art, character, weapon, and monster designs, and rough sketches, this is a complete picture of the brutal world of Dark Souls. Design Works also includes an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview with game director Hidetaka Miyazaki and many of the game’s artists, making it a real treat for fans of the game!

As an owner of the Japanese version, I can say this: It may not be the best art book out there, but for any fan of the series — it’s completely worth it. I personally will be double dipping to support its release. To end this, UDON has also announced that Dark Souls: Design Works is also available for pre-order at Amazon.
