Ubisoft has announced a Vita version of their upcoming title Rayman Legends. It will be released right alongside all the other versions on September 3 in North America.

This version will include five exclusive levels featuring Murphy. Players will control him using the Rear Touch Pad to assist Rayman through the levels. Additionally, the Vita version will come with two exclusive outfits themed after two Ubisoft properties: Prince of Persia and the upcoming Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Rayman gets the Prince of Persia themed costume, making him look like the eponymous prince, (Warrior Within era). Globox gets the second costume from Splinter Cell: Blacklist, including the standard black suit with various gadgets and doodads strapped across his chest and the signature three-eyed night vision goggles.

Unlike the home console versions, Rayman Legends for the Vita will not have any multiplayer options save one: it will feature local co-op play where one player controls Rayman while the other controls Murphy via the touch screen.

Are you ready for Rayman Legends?

Originally slated as a Wii U exclusive, Rayman Legends was pushed back less than a month before its original February 26th release date. Ubisoft decided to port the title to the other current-gen home consoles, necessitating the delay. The Vita port marks the title’s entrance into the handheld market. Rayman’s previous title, Rayman Origins, was available on just about every console other than the PSP. Does this mean a 3DS version won’t be far behind?

All versions of Rayman Legends will be released on September 29th for European markets. Check out the announcement trailer below.

Karli Winata is an avid gamer with a taste for a little bit of everything. Except for sports games. And racing sims. And definitely not hidden object games! I guess everything is too broad a term. Suffice it to say that he has been known to play hours of Call of Duty multiplayer in between bouts of Persona fusing and Star Coin collecting while saving the world/galaxy through sensibly bald space marines or plucky teenagers with impossible hairstyles. Where does he find the time to write about them?
