Naoki Yoshida, producer on the development team for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, addressed fans of Final Fantasy via the official Final Fantasy XIV forums with another letter talking about the current progress of the game’s development. With this letter came a few new details regarding the game’s progression and the release date.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is to be released simultaneously worldwide on August 27, 2013 for PC and PlayStation 3. Though he did not mention a concrete price point, Yoshida said that the game’s full release will be as affordable as possible so that all may have the opportunity to explore the game’s world, Eorzea. The collector’s edition will be also rather affordable, but it won’t sacrifice the goodies usually included with a collector’s edition. Yoshida also pointed out that they are very close to releasing the third phase of their beta test and are in the “homestretch” of preparations for it. Among other announcements, the development team also released the second part of their video series that provides a tour of Eorzea.

What do you think about Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn? Will you be picking this game up for your PlayStation 3 or PC? Does it look like it has done the Final Fantasy name justice? We’ll find out when August rolls around.
