As a follow up from our previous Killer Is Dead article, there are new images with more shots of the Victor boss fight, additional images detailing Mondo’s katana-wielding abilities, and an interesting “gigolo-mode” that will be covered later.
Mondo wields Gekkou (trans. as Moonlight), a katana that absorbs blood from his enemies to make him grow stronger and use as ammunition for his mechanical gun-arm. By collecting enough blood, he will glow with blue light and deal extra damage and chain additional attack combos.
Basic combat mechanics consist of slashing, guarding, and dodging with occasional switching between sword to gun-arm use for accumulative combos and massive damage. Playing defensively can be advantageous for Mondo, as he can parry from correctly-timed guards to stun enemies. Dodging enemy attacks will give him some range for gun-arm, allowing the chance to land head-shots.
As for the aforementioned “gigolo mode,” Mondo can break the ice with women and win their hearts, or earn rejection with a slap in the face. In this particular scenario, Mondo is hooking up with Natalia from Brazil, who calls herself “Pheromone.” He also has special Gigolo Glasses that allows him to see through the hearts and bodies of women.
This mode works as a dating simulator in many ways, as you can increase your relationship stats with Natalia and other women by means of giving them presents to impress them. According to some of these screens, your reward may be seeing some visual goodies not suitable for work… but within legally purchasable reason.
Killer Is Dead is slated for a summer release with North American distribution handled by XSEED, with European distribution handled by Deep Silver. If you’re up for this game, make sure you save the date.
