In an interview with Nikkei Trendy, Level-5’s president, Akihiro Hino, mentioned that they are currently working on a Playstation 4 game.

While we don’t have any information on what type of game Level-5 is making, there’s a possibility that the game may take advantage of the PS4’s social/sharing capabilities. Hino states that the PS4 is “built with the network in mind, so more than graphics performance and specs, we need to think about communication—how to use the network features.” The game is “still in the planning stages”, but it is apparently far enough along that Level-5 “might be able to announce it soon.” We’ll be keeping an eye out for more information.

Hino also gave some more information on other titles:

  • Fantasy Life is doing well, with shipments reaching 300,000.
  • Hino is hoping that Youkai Watch becomes a success. There will be a game, anime, and manga based on the property.
  • The Guild series of games is being evaluated for iOS (with Android versions being considered).

About Frank Urbanski

A lover of all things video game, Frank foolishly decided to ignore his dream of becoming a writer, and instead got a degree in Biology. It's possible that someone, somewhere might someday need a detailed phylogeny of the Goomba clade, and if that day comes Frank would gladly help. Until then, however, he's happy to flex his writing muscles with the rest of the oprainfall staff.
