At a recent press event in Japan for the upcoming Darkstalkers Resurrection, Capcom producer Tomoaki Ayano talked about the possibility of bringing the rest of the Darkstalkers games to modern consoles. According to Siliconera’s report, Ayano explained that the reason this game contains only Night Warriors: Darkstalkers’ Revenge and Darkstalkers 3 is because they were the most popular. They didn’t want to “fragment the active userbase across too many different games and their arcade versions”.
Ayano stated that if Darkstalkers Resurrection does well enough, then they’d consider bringing the rest of the games to modern consoles, as well as possibly making a new game in the franchise. Hopefully, this won’t result in a game that gets a new version announced three months after launch or a game that has DLC locked to the disc you already bought. Or both. Because that would just be the worst.
