Perhaps you read our review of the excellent DS visual novel/escape the room hybrid 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors but could never find it at your local game store. Not to fear, Aksys has you covered, announcing today that shipments of a newly branded “Zero Escape” version of 999 have been sent out. Likely in a move to bring in some new fans before the sequel Virtue’s Last Reward hits, this new reprint bears no changes outside of the new cover, making the connection to the new game more obvious by putting them both under the Zero Escape label.
While the story in Virtue’s Last Reward is self contained, it has been promised that there will be plenty of references to 999–as well as appearances by a character or two from the first game. So while it is not necessary to have played 999, doing so will ensure that you don’t miss any of the connections between the two games.
If you missed out on this amazing game, don’t let this second chance pass you by! There is plenty of time to see what you’ve missed in 999 before Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward releases on October 23rd for the 3DS and Playstation Vita. Be sure to preorder soon if you want the special watch; the first run has already sold out.
