It’s time, once again, to head into the world of monster girls, since JAST has released another entry in the Mamono Musume series. This one is called Mamono Musume: Spider & Harpy & Cyclops, and as the name implies, there will be amazing girls to spend time with this time around. Let’s see if these girls can live up to the quality of the amazing monster girls in previous releases.

Mamono Musume: Spider & Harpy & Cyclops | Spider

The story here follows a young man named Hibiki as he is summoned to a strange world where he encounters three beautiful monster girls. The spider girl princess, Arachne, is the one who summoned him into this world out of sheer boredom. She is unable to return him home, so he will have to make the best of the situation. He will not only have to get to know her better, but her two friends living with her as well, the harpy, Rupuia, and the adorable cyclops, Cyc. Each girl is very unique, and their stories will unfold very differently.

Mamono Musume: Spider & Harpy & Cyclops | Spider Wife

I always have a great time with this series since the stories are simple, but also have a good amount of emotional impact. This time around, Mamono Musume: Spider & Harpy & Cyclops gives you a bit of both. Arachne’s route is pretty playful for the most part, with an emotional bit at the end. The other two dig into much more serious themes, but have great endings that let you walk away with a smile. I will say, I enjoyed Arachne’s story the most, but it was a shock to me since I thought I could never love a spider girl. She is just way too cute, and she stole my heart within minutes of me firing this up!

Mamono Musume: Spider & Harpy & Cyclops | Cuddles

As with other entries in this franchise, I loved the artwork here as well. Each of the girls have an array of character sprites showing off different emotions, and the CG work is top notch. As you would expect, all of the H-scene CG’s are well done, and there are a few kinks going on in some of the scenes. I felt like these were well placed, and written well enough that they kept the story moving forward without overstaying their welcome. There isn’t anything too extreme or over the top here either, so fans of more vanilla games will be right at home here.

Mamono Musume: Spider & Harpy & Cyclops | Pats

The music here is basic, but it gets the job done. If you have played other entries in this franchise, you will notice a lot of these are the same tunes they used in those games. The voice actors did a great job bringing these girls to life. They gave each girl a lot of personality, and made the emotional scenes really stand out. Per usual, I would suggest some headphones during the H-scenes, unless you want to share your monster girl love with those around you, but you do you.

Mamono Musume: Spider & Harpy & Cyclops | Bird

I can safely say, Mamono Musume: Spider & Harpy & Cyclops is my favorite entry in this great series, so far. I loved all three of these girls, and their stories were both fun and gave me a bit of feels as well. The artwork is great, and I mean, they got me to love a spider girl. That is certainly saying something given my crippling fear of them! This entry is a bit longer than the previous ones, clocking in at around 8 hours since there are three different routes to take. This game is well worth the $14.99 price tag if you love monster girls or just need a good, simple nukige to help you escape from the world for a bit.

About Steve Baltimore

Steve started with oprainfall not long after the campaign moved from the IGN forums to Facebook. Ever since, he has been fighting to give all non-mainstream RPGs a fair voice. As the site admin, he will continue to do this and even show there is value in what some would deem "pure ecchi." He loves niche games and anime more than anything... well, except maybe Neptune.
