Evergate

Puzzle-platformer Evergate, from developer Stone Lantern Games and publisher PQube, is setting its sights on the PC and will launch on Steam Sept. 1, 2020.

Take control of Evergate protagonist Ki’s unique align-to-shoot mechanic, the Soulflame, for the first time on PC. Aim and fire at crystals dotted around each environment and harness their mysterious powers as you solve challenging puzzles. Build Ki’s essence counter by completing bonus objectives in each stage, and boost her abilities through ancient artifacts. Navigate levels and build your bond between two kindred spirits as they explore the ethereal and haunting afterlife. Reveal the memories of a life left behind, moving across time and space to uncover Ki’s mysterious connection to another soul.

The game launched on the Nintendo Switch last week following that platform’s Indie Showcase. As noted in that write-up:

Evergate features hand-drawn illustrations that help bring the beautiful and ethereal world Ki lives in to life. Composer Mike Miller scored an original orchestral soundtrack to compliment the visuals. He also took a music box lullaby he wrote for his infant daughter and incorporated it into the game as Ki’s theme and the game’s title music.

Features include:

  • A heartwarming epic spanning life and death and space and time
  • Open-ended puzzles inviting many solutions
  • World filled with power locked in crystalline form
  • Empowering artifacts to upgrade Ki and the Soulflame
  • Hand-drawn artwork creates wonder in every moment
  • Rich soundtrack evokes the magic of Ki’s journey
