Welcome to a bright and sunny Nintendo Download! This is the first one of May, and it has a bunch of surprises in store. A few fantastic games are getting brought to the Switch, there’s a couple different sales and the usual number of enjoyable and eclectic digital content. Let’s get started.

Nintendo Download | Tropical Freeze Switch

I was very fond of how Retro brought new life to the Donkey Kong Country series on Wii U, so it’s probably not surprising that I’m a bit excited for Tropical Freeze releasing on the Switch tomorrow. Especially since it’s adding new playable characters in the form of Funky and Cranky Kong (who else wants to play a surfing Kong?). Another fun game that is making the Switch is Nihilumbra. I rather enjoyed it when I reviewed it on my Wii U, and if you like atmospheric puzzle platforming, I would recommend you check it out. Finally, if you love playful genies, you should definitely check out Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition. It comes packed with all the DLC that ever came to that game, as well as a bunch of physical goodies if you don’t go digital. So if you haven’t played it already, it’s worth the investment when it releases next week.

Next up, there are a couple of sales happening today. First up, Raw Fury has an “Everything Must Go” Spring sale featuring several quality Switch games up to 35% off. The included titles are Dandara, GoNNER, Kingdom: New Lands and Uurnog Uurnlimited. Of those, I would recommend you at least check out the first two, though I’m less familiar with the latter games.

The other sale is via the Game Guide, and it features a few interesting titles worth a look. For the retro inclined, Gekido Kintaro’s Revenge (Switch) is discounted to $11.99; fans of adventure games and horror might enjoy The Long Reach (Switch) for $10.49; fans of tactics and beautiful pixel art should check out Aegis Defenders (Switch) for $14.99; for something different, you might enjoy Nightmare Boy (Switch) for $8.99; to try out a unique FPS, give a gander to Morphite (Switch) for $11.99; to get your top down fix, you can play Neon Chrome (Switch) for $8.99; Metroidvania fans absolutely need to try Axiom Verge (Wii U and Switch) for $17.99; to fuel your bloodlust, try out Butcher (Switch) for $6.49 and if you need to fell some giants, you might want to pick up Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains (3DS) for $9.99. Not a bad list at all, though you can find the full one here.

Nintendo Download | Naruto

Lastly, we’ll finish up with the new digital games this week. If you like ninjas, you’re in luck this week, since Naruto has 4 games that all released this week – Ultimate Ninja Storm, Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 and Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy (not sure why they didn’t just release the last one). For something more classic, you might enjoy Rainbow Snake on Wii U. To scratch that Final Fight itch, you should check out Raging Justice next week. For some twitch based mayhem, check out Animal Super Squad, Don’t Die, Mr. Robot! and Timberman VS. And finally, if you love Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, you may want to check out Cast of the Seven Godsends.

Thanks for joining us this week for the latest Nintendo Download. Tune in to oprainfall next week for more fun Nintendo games worth a look!
