This might be the best week for a Nintendo Download in quite some time. The Game Guide is working, meaning there are a lot of fun sales to discuss, plus there are a bunch of great games coming out! Sure there’s no Xenoblade this week, but we can’t have that every day. Let’s see what has me so excited, shall we?

Nintendo Download | Enter the Gungeon

If you’re like me, you love crazy twin-stick action, and if so, Enter the Gungeon is ready to serve. This manic title was a hell of a lot of fun at PAX a couple years back, and now that it’s on the Switch, it should make Nintendo fans very happy. Perhaps more exciting though is that Playtonic Games has brought their latest retro classic to the Switch! Yes, Yooka-Laylee is finally out for Nintendo fans. I’ve actually been playing it the past couple days (perks of backing the game way back when) and save for some rough spots, it’s a lot of fun. You can pick up this charming successor to games like Banjo-Kazooie starting today, and I highly recommend you do so. Lastly, for fans of retro RPGs, you can pick up Romancing SaGa 2 bright and early tomorrow.

I promised the Game Guide was working, and I meant it! Not sure why it’s functional today, but I won’t question the opportunity to mention some fantastic games on sale. The following games are ones I recommend you check out, with the link to the full list at the very end.

First up, you can pick up Mighty No. 9 (Wii U) for a mere $4.99; Letter Quest Remastered (Switch) is discounted to $10.04; Time Recoil (Switch) is down to $10.49; the incredible The Mummy Demastered (Switch) is only $13.99; creepy The Count Lucanor (Switch) is $9.99; the frenetic Volgarr the Viking (Wii U, Switch) is a mere $4.99; Tetris-inspired Tumblestone (Switch) is down to $8.99; Pankapu (Switch) is now $9.99; Slime-san (Switch) is $10.19; the perky Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (Switch) is a steal at $13.39; Noitu Love Devolution (Wii U, 3DS) is really cheap at $3.99; the adorable Poncho (Wii U) is pretty great at $6.95; and finally, Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse (Wii U, 3DS) is still one of my fave in the series, especially for only $11.99. That’s a lot of great games, especially considering some are for the Switch. But you can see the full list by clicking here.

Nintendo Download | Mutant Mudds Collection

Let’s close out with some great new digital content. Firstly, if you’re a fan of retro platforming goodness, Mutant Mudds Collection is officially out today. If you feel more like crazy roguelike action, try out both One More Dungeon and Hammerwatch. If you want something oppressive and puzzling, try out Black The Fall. If you want something more cerebral, try Never Stop Sneakin’. If you like playing old games on new consoles, you can try out Unepic on Switch. If you’re looking for something strange and frantic, take a glance at Mecho Tales and Brawlout. For something educational and strange, look at Hiragana Pixel Party. For the retro inclined, check out ACA NEOGEO The Last Blade. If you want to shoot foes to smithereens, try your hand at Bleed. And for dungeon crawling fun, you might enjoy Crawl.
