Since Dragon Con’s humble beginnings in 1987, it has expanded to encompass the majority of the downtown Atlanta area every Labor Day weekend for a mix-mash of cosplay, folk music, charity fundraising, guest panels, and more. This year, over 80,000 people attended to celebrate Dragon Con’s thirty-first anniversary.

Charles Martinet was very expressive, and very animated during the interview.

Charles Martinet has been the iconic voice of Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi (my favorite), and many more since he first began working for Nintendo in 1990 as the voice for the titular character in Mario in Real-Time. At Dragon Con this year, Operation Rainfall was lucky enough to catch up with Charles Martinet as part of a press-conference style interview and listen to him tell stories about working with Nintendo for what is closing in on thirty-years on titles leading up to the recently released Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle for the Nintendo Switch, voicing Paarthurnax in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and more while switching between voices of his many famous roles.
