Sonic Mania looks to be the Sonic game that the old-school fans have been wanting for a very long time and we finally know exactly when we’ll be getting it thanks to this new trailer released on the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube.
This short trailer features a slick looking animation very reminiscent of the classic intro from Sonic CD. Sandwiched in the middle is of course some gameplay footage showcasing many interesting zones including Green Hill Zone from Sonic 1, and Flying Battery from S&K, but many of the Zones look original which I very much like. One gameplay feature that stands out is it seems the player has the ability to switch characters in the middle of the action.
So with that all said Sonic Mania will be released August 15th, 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC for $19.99 USD. You can pre-order it right now over on Steam and get a 10% discount.
