Toonami has finally revealed their new collaboration with famed director Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor). Titled Sand Whale and Me, the five-part short film premieres March 18th in order to celebrate Toonami’s 20th anniversary. The film is 25 minutes in total.

A female paratrooper. A the distant future. A vast desert. With limited supply of food and water, her only hope is to catch a Sand Whale from a pack. Catch the trailer for “Sand Whale and Me,” a 25 minute, 5 part short film from legendary director Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor) and Production I.G. Premiering in Toonami on March 18th!

Production I.G is producing the series. Kenji Kawai, a long time collaborator with Oshii, is composing the soundtrack.
