Valkyrie Drive | Launch

Thanks to the localization efforts of UK-based publisher PQube, the legendary righteous boob-producer Kenichiro Takaki’s game Valkyrie Drive Bhikkhuni is out now in select retail outlets online in North America, such as Amazon and Rice Digital. You can also grab it on PSN digitally. Rice Digital has the special Liberator’s Edition, but at the time of this writing, it appears they are out of stock. To commemorate the occasion, PQube has a special launch trailer out for the game, which you can view below.

Awesome game. Fans of Takaki’s work should feel right at hometown.

I’ve been playing it for a while and the combat is really great once you get used to it. The story progresses a little slowly, but the humour compensates for that.

Is this coming out for PC?

    • Joe

I haven’t heard any PC port plans, but boy, wouldn’t it be nice!

  • Cats736

Lied about it not being censored and did not disclose that it was censored until someone posted a screenshot. Screw that.

    • Mr0303

They only hid the ages of the girls. It’s not that big of a deal. Everything else is intact.

    • Cats736

The removal of the ages is not the problem. It’s the fact that they lied and did not disclose that it was censored until after it was released when someone posted screenshots about it.

    • Mr0303

The PR person who said this said that the game will be “completely intact” and the game is indeed. So technically they didn’t lie.

PQube are a really new publisher (formed in 2015) and are not very experienced. The removal of ages is a very typical change for these types of games and the Senran Kagura series had it in every game, so it was very much expected, which may be why they didn’t address it until the whole thing blew up. This is a better solution than outright altering the ages since it preserves artistic integrity.

I think in the future they will disclose these kind of changes, but until then deserve the benefit of the doubt given that they localised both Gal Gun and Valkyrie Drive without censorship.

    • Cats736

Except it’s not, because something was removed from the game, that is a lie.

Being new is not an excuse to not disclose censorship when you market the game as being uncensored and “completely intact”. Uncensored and “completely intact” means not censoring or removing things so, no.

      Valkyrie Drive is censored.

    • Mr0303

Nothing was removed from the game. All the gameplay elements, dialogue and art is there. The ages of the girls are still there, just hidden. In fact you can read their ages in the artbook.

Plus the “completely intact” statement was made by their PR person to one website. He may have been uninformed of that change at the time.

Here is the complete sentence – “I can confirm that Valkyrie Drive: Bhikkhuni will be brought to the west in its original form, with content completely intact” nothing in that statement confirms that the ages won’t be removed. So there is no lying there. Nowhere in there did he say that the game will be completely uncensored.

Being new suggests that they are not as experienced when bringing games and this could’ve been an honest mistake. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt given that they brought titles like Gal Gun and Valkyrie Drive in their purest form.

Boycotting what is one of the best publishers for niche games along with XSEED (who also remove the ages) for something so small, when NISA is butchering everything in their games is not a good strategy.

    • Cats736

*Le sigh* Yes, nothing was removing. The ages weren’t really a thing and we’re all just imagining it.

    • Mr0303

Care to address any of the other things I said?

    • Miles

Can’t you just play the game for what it is? A game. I played it and it sucks in my opinion. Too much lag and the gameplay is a bit wonky. Not like Senran Kagura with it gameplay has a smooth flow. From what I read and been reading from modern gamers this is just nick-picking now. Everyone knows the age; who cares. And the argument would be “Well they’re destroying the game for what it is. We want the pure and the original version.” Again who cares if the main core meat of the game is there. Not everyone can keep all their promises to everyone. There will be small nickers here and there and not everyone will be happy. Business first dude. If they can’t focus on themselves then hell we wouldn’t be getting this game at all. And people would just go on and importing for twice the price.

    • Cats736

Once again: the issue is with PQube.

“I don’t understand why people complain when a company does something stupid and shady. Why can’t you just ignore and accept it like me?”

    • Miles

Ok that last sentence does not make sense when you said “accept it like me”. But I’m just gonna asked to what did you mean by accepted it; instead of calling you out.

For me scared to see that a small minor issued will become a large pointless attack. Dealt with all that shit when I was being bully by nerds/geeks now a days. Arguments so large that I see and read dumb comments from left to right. And people are going to the EXTREMES measure to do so. I’m all for fight for what you believe is unjust but there’s got to be some kind of limit on how far you’re willing to put at risk and GODDAMN common sense. Mostly here on Operationrainfall though. I see people go as far as buying the japanese version without a care on the price. And for those who done that: Really? You’re gonna pay $100 for a game. Just so you can see digital tits and ass, and texts? Gonna raise a brow and not question it. Well question how many old games I can buy with that money lol. Hell I wasted $40 bucks on Valkyrie Drive when I could of just bought Dragon Quest VII.

Ranting aside. I just wanted to say don’t take the small issue too seriously. Yes PQube lied about making this game pure as the driven snow but understand as I stated earlier. They’re a business first. At the rate we’re going with extremist from both gamers and SJWs, Sony, Nintendo (Don’t care for Microsoft. Just their computers are good) and third companies will most likely do what I fear and truly understand for their action. No more games. periods. No more Square-Enix, Capcom, SEGA-Atlus, Nintendo, Nippon Ichi, KoeiTecmo….Konami can just die lol. I’m already hearing that Berserk Musou will not be coming to PAL or NTSC at all due to both gamers and SJWs. Everything they make will just be Japan only since they don’t make as much of a ruckus as I seen with the US.
