Runbow

Runbow Pocket | Splash

I have a quick confession to make – I don’t know why I don’t already own Runbow. I love challenging retro games and I love platformers. Runbow is both of those things in one, yet I somehow never got around to buying it after trying out the free demo. Luckily, 13AM Games has me covered, since they are releasing Runbow Pocket sometime in 2016. What did I think of the New 3DS port of the original Wii U game?

Runbow Pocket | Lava

First off, if you were one of those people worried Runbow Pocket would somehow suffer from being confined to a smaller system and screen, worry not. Runbow Pocket plays very fast, smooth and with no noticeable lag at all. Better yet, it has all the levels from the first Runbow, offering you hundreds of colorful platforming puzzles to play. It also has lots of costumes and unlockables, including 19 guest characters from other Nintendo games. Speaking of which, one of those will be everybody’s favorite magical bellydancer, Shantae! Because bellydancing DOES make everything better.

Runbow Pocket | Stage Select

I have to say, I’m very glad to see Runbow did well enough to merit this port, since I think it’s gonna fit my 3DS very well. Not to mention, there will also be physical editions of Runbow Pocket and Runbow Deluxe, so that compulsive collector side of my personality will be well satisfied. Between this and Pirate Pop Plus, 13AM was definitely on their A game this year at the Nindie section of PAX West. I’ll be looking forward to when they announce the official release dates for both in the coming year. Stay tuned for that info from oprainfall, and make sure to save up some money for the physical editions of both, if that’s your sort of thing!
