Even though the newest Godzilla film only just recently premiered in Japan, another project for the most well known kaiju is already in the works. An anime film staring the King of the Monsters has been announced for next year. Writer Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Psycho-Pass) will be producing the script, and it will be directed by Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita. Polygon Pictures, which worked on Knights of Sidonia will be handling the film’s animation.

The Godzilla anime has been announced for sometime in 2017. The next movie in the Legendary Pictures series is currently scheduled for sometime in 2019 with a crossover with King Kong due in 2020. The latest Toho produced film, Shin Godzilla is now in theaters in Japan.
