Xenoblade | Skell Kit featured

Xenoblade | Formula Skell

Kotobukiya have finally released the 1/48 scale of the Formula Skell from Xenoblade Chronicles X. I was eagerly awaiting this release as, I absolutely loved the skell designs in the game. I finally got my hands on it yesterday and for the most part I am satisfied with this release. I do not own a lot of Gunpla, heck the last time I bought a model kit like this was a smaller Gundam Strike Freedom one years ago. Of course being a plastic model, you may want to break out some tools like sandpaper or proper knives to make sure this looks really good.

I feel like I am assembling Exodia

In my experience with these kind of model kits I usually have a lot of trouble putting them together. There is always that one piece that isn’t quite shaped properly or has such a tight fit that you really need to force the pieces together in order for it to be assembled. Thankfully Kotobukiya have done a great job with this. The pieces were really distinct and had enough room for the pieces to it comfortably without it being loose.

And there are LOTS of pieces to this

Putting the leg pieces together really reminded me just how detailed these skells are. This model kit does an incredible job recreating that. Like in the game, this kit can also transform into a vehicle which is great! This kit also includes several weapons the skell can hold and pose with. I am really surprised at how many joints they managed to put here. If there is one downside to this package, its that the stand they give you really isn’t all that great. Its very stiff and quite frankly makes some of the poses difficult to do.  All in all, this is a neat package that will definitely appeal to those of you who enjoy the game. C’mon Kotobukiya, let’s get some more Xenoblade model kits like Amdusias or Verus!
