Niconico held a special four-part stream titled “SEEK at MEKAKUCITY.” The stream began on August 7 and ended on August 15. During the program, characters from the Kagerou Project appeared. At the end of the stream it was revealed that Kagerou Project would receive another anime. The new anime will be called Mekakucity Reload.

This new anime is not related to the MX4D anime short film set to release in the Winter. It is unknown if Mekakucity Reload will be a sequel to Mekakucity Actors anime or a completely new one.

The Kagerou Project has been adapted into multiple forms of media including a light novel, manga and anime series.

The first anime is titled Mekakucity Actors and it was produced by Shaft and directed by Akiyuki Shinbo. The series first aired in 2014 and ran for 12 episodes. It is licensed by Aniplex of America in North America.
