There is a new version of Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters that will be localized and released in the west. As announced by Aksys, Tokyo Twilight Ghost hunters Day Break Edition Special Gigs is an enhanced version of the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita RPG. It will release for the PlaySation 4 as a physical release while digital for the PlayStation Vita and Steam. We do not have an exact release date yet but will keep you posted when more details emerge.

No physical Vita? Little disappointing considering VNs are perfect for the platform and the first one did get retail in both retails.

Hoping an EU publisher can change that.

Yea I can see that being a bit disappointing, however I am looking forward to seeing how these visuals fare on the big screen on PS4. No joke this game ruined Visual Novels for me as the animation is so amazing. Unfortunately so few VNs are as well animated as this one.

      It’s already out on vita!

  • Was excited, till I read digital only for PSVITA 🙁

I wonder why they decided to do a physical release only for PS4. I don’t think visual novels will do well on it – they are obviously better on handhelds.

    • Probably has to do with market penetration, they probably feel that they tapped out the handheld market with the last release, were as the console market still has room for them to sell more copies. Regardless, it still sucks for Vita owners!

What are the improvements? Gameplay of the vanilla version was… less than stellar to put it mildly.

    • azariosays

The greatly improved the battles. I know that for sure

    • JGuill

I wouldn’t call the gameplay bad, but rather they did a horrible job of explaining how the game worked. Its actually quite interesting once you poke around with the options and start understanding how to play it. I sincerely hope they do a better job explaining it this time around.

    • DizzyGear

I had to look up how the sense system worked on GameFAQ’s since it was not explained ANYWHERE in game or the manual.
But even if you know how it works the outcome did not always make sense resulting in me pissing off people even if I did not intent to.
Like I wanted to talk to someone and instead the MC tried to kiss that person. Like wtf.

    • JGuill

Yea that is something the game really needed to explain especially considering that affects who joins your party, character affinities and your ending. If they had maybe a help menu to go with it, that would have been fine but NO. I hope that the new game fixes this.
