Not content to just give us one trailer, Atlus has yet another The King of Fighters XIV video to gawk at. This time we’re taking a look at new and old villains of the series, including fan favorites Choi and Chang. But it’s the newcomer Xanadu that steals the show; he seems to take cues from the F.A.N.G. school of villainy with odd moves, comically waving arms, and an attack where he does a rock-a-by-baby to his opponent. These 3 will join the roster of 50 fighters, all who have received refinements to make this a balanced affair. The game releases on PS4 in late August for all regions (NA Aug 23, JP Aug 25, EU Aug 26) and will include a special edition for all super-fans out there. All the details can be found in the press release below.

It’s Crime Time! Chang, Choi, and Xanadu are Bringing an Iron Ball, Steel Claws, and… General Craziness to THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV

Watch the Madness in the New Trailer Below!

Where do two relapsed criminals and a madman go to relieve stress? The King of Fighters tournament of course!
Everyone’s favorite thugs, Chang and Choi, are back and this time they’re criminals again. Led by a new character, the deranged lunatic Xanadu, Team Villains is determined to win it all with brute force and sadistic slicing. The big burly Chang will smash enemies into oblivion with his trademark iron ball on a chain, while the creepy Choi will cut his way through fighters with his sharp claw. And Xanadu? Oh boy, watch out for that man because he has a move where he literally cradles opponents, Rock-a-bye Baby style, just before snapping their spines. Seriously. Just watch the trailer because he might be the greatest KOF character ever made.

Here are the top-line refinements for THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV:
  • 3D Evolution: All 50 fighters, movesets and more are rendered in full 3D graphics that preserves the essence of KOF’s visual style but updates it with a whole new dimension.
  • The Best Refinement since KOF ’98: Through extensive playtesting and balancing, the controls have been streamlined, and the Combo and Max Mode mechanics have been overhauled to create the most competitive fighter in SNK’s history.
  • The KOF Saga Continues: There’s a robust single-player storyline where several years have passed since the previous KOF tournament. Now a worldwide business, the global KOF will decide who is the strongest as both individuals and companies with their own ambitions have come to compete. Players compete against CPU-controlled opponents to unlock the storyline.
  • The Best Roster Yet: There are 50 fighters total, with 31 returning from previous entries into the KOF series, and 19 brand new characters. All 50 characters will be available at the game’s launch.
  • Revamped Online Experience: THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV has devoted a lot of development time to improving the game’s netcode for vastly improved online gameplay. KOF XIV uses the PS4’s online architecture to have a whole host of online conveniences, from spectating to saving replay/battle data, and having a single online KOF XIV profile to connect with friends.
The game will be $59.99/CA$79.99 at launch. Pre-orders and a limited number of launch editions will arrive in this special SteelBook® case. Plus, for the week following launch, the Classic Kyo costume DLC will be free to all players!
