The game itself will involve our heroine facing off against various threats in her effort to protect Scuttle Town from harm. And, of course, no game in the series would be complete without the nefarious, yet bodacious Risky Boots! I am incredibly excited for this latest outing, especially since it is in glorious HD and will see the return of her transformation abilities! Take a look at the official fact sheet and trailer below!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the beautiful, magical world of Sequin Land lives a spirited young half-genie named Shantae. Gifted with a special ability to belly-dance and transform herself into various creature forms (not to mention the most powerful ponytail in the world!), Shantae has dedicated her life to defending Scuttle Town from evil in its many forms! So far she’s kept her home safe from steam-powered pirates, undead evildoers, and militaristic madmen, proving time and again that there’s nothing this genie-girl can’t handle.
However, as certain as the rising tides, Scuttle Town is about to fall victim to another nefarious scheme by the pirate captain and self-proclaimed Queen of the Seven Seas, Risky Boots! No citizen of Sequin land is safe!
Shantae’s invention-obsessed uncle has just discovered a new and limitless source of power by mixing magic with magnetism – a power that Risky Boots wants all for herself! But that’s not all: villainy is on the rise all across Sequin Land, and our poor Shantae can’t be everywhere at once. Is she hero enough to topple this wave of criminal masterminds and still make time to foil Risky’s latest scheme?
Join Shantae as she adventures through steamy jungles, ancient ruins, counterfeit mermaid factories (what?), stormy deserts, ghoulish graveyards, and much, much more, all while struggling to unlock the long-lost secrets of her genie heritage. Can Shantae save Sequin Land once again? Or will Risky Boots finally succeed in ruling the world? All is not as it seems in this latest, greatest Shantae adventure!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shantae embarks on her first full HD adventure! After three highly successful outings with Shantae, Shantae: Risky’s Revenge, and Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, Shantae and her friends finally get a full HD console-based sequel! Boasting vivid, detailed high-definition graphics that retain the 2D hand-drawn sprites the series is known for, this newest entry in the Shantae series almost looks like a playable TV show! Presented as a stage-based 2.5D platformer with heavy exploration elements, Shantae uses her trademark Hair-Whip Attack to dispatch enemies, then takes advantage of her Belly Dance Magic to transform into 8 different forms that each have their own unique abilities and move sets. As new forms are mastered, old stages can be re-explored to unearth new items and secrets, ensuring there’s plenty of content on offer for novices and platforming gurus alike. Topple the villainous Baron behind each criminal caper afflicting Sequin Land, and prepare for the ultimate showdown against Shantae’s arch-nemesis: that bodacious buccaneer, Risky Boots!

    I’m very excited for this game. I haven’t played an awesome 2D platformer since Rayman Legends.

    • Didney Worl

      I’m so excited for this game, I pre-ordered all 3 versions of it.

      In the meantime, if you’re looking for some great games to satisfy that 2D platformer itch, I highly recommend playing Freedom Planet, Shovel Knight, Pharaoh Rebirth+, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, and Manos: The Hands of Fate.

      I think it is cross buy for the PlayStation systems, which is where I’m playing it.

      I really liked Shovel Knight, but Giana Sisters seemed a bit clunky to me when I played it a while ago.
