Special Mentions For Our Audience

Arcade Game Series: Dig-Dug, Galaga, Ms. Pac-man, Pac-man – PS4 Digital (Out 4/20 Each)

These Arcade Game Series titles are being sold separately, but I decided to just list them all here together for ease of reading. These are four of the greatest arcade games of all time, so whether you are recapturing nostalgia or are interested in video game history, these titles may be for you. Galaga is the personal highlight for me, one of my favorite arcade games of all time.

Axiom Verge – PS Vita Digital (Cross-Buy with PS4)

One of my two favorite Retro games of all time (Shovel Knight being the other one), finally makes it’s way to PS Vita. This is very exciting news indeed. They didn’t just do a slipshod port, they ported the entire game engine over to the little device, which not only makes this one run better, but it also allows for titles that use a similar engine to be ported easier in the future. That is what took so long, and the wait is more than worth it. I cannot recommend this one enough.

Invisible, Inc. Console Edition – PS4 Digital

This highly regarded indie game makes it’s way to the PS4. Kind of like a mix between Metal Gear Solid and the recently renewed Shadowrun games. Get your stealth spy fix in style.

Koi – PS4 Digital (PS Plus Members Save 40% Through 4/26)

This beautiful little indie game looks a lot like something from ThatGameCompany. Anyone who knows me, knows that is high praise, they are one of my favorite developers. So if you want an artistic game, this may be for you.

Lichdom: Battlemage – PS4 Digital, Retail

If you played a caster in The Elder Scrolls games you often felt a bit underpowered, spells were not exactly very flashy. This first person rpg seems to have taken that issue and run with it, making your Battlemage an unmitigated death dealer.

Masquerade: The Baubles of Doom – PS4, PS3 Digital

This is an action adventure game with an interesting art style and a strong sense of humor about it’s world. Bloody clowns:

Masquerade is an action-adventure set in the fantasy world of The Realm, centered around a battle for the mythical Druid Orbs, the most powerful pair of balls in all the land. For it was said that whomever possessed the Orbs, possessed the power to rule all. From foreign shores came the Clowns, an army of morose maniacs determined to find the Orbs. And so began the Great Clown Invasion.

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse – PS4 Digital

This title has been released on pretty much every other console in existence, or it seems so, but it finally makes it’s way to PS4. I’m just featuring it here because it really is one of the best examples in recent history of an action platformer. So, if for some reason you missed all of it’s other iterations, this is definitely a good one to jump in on.

About William Haderlie

Born in the 1970's, I've been an avid participant for much of video game history. A lifetime of being the sort of supergeek entrenched in the sciences and mathematics has not curbed my appreciation for the artistry of video games, cinema, and especially literature.

Dig-Dug, Galaga, Ms. Pac-man, Pac-man – Will most likely grab all of these. My favs being Ms Pacman and Galaga. I’ve always preferred Ms Pac over Mr’s. Galaga’s two ship hook up was the seller for mee over Galaxian’s one ship.

I agree with you about the Pac-man series. Yes, the original was a major event in gaming history, but the Misses beats up her spouse as far as quality is concerned.
