KOEI TECMO dropped a treasure trove of new information for fans awaiting Arslan: The Warriors of Legend today. The game will launch across North America on February 9th on the XBox One, Playstation 4, and Playstation 3. Arslan: The Warriors of Legend is based on the renowned novel, The Heroic Legend of Arslan, and aims to stick close to the spirit of the rebooted anime and manga versions (illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa, the creator of Fullmetal Alchemist). The game also continues the one versus hundreds gameplay that the Warriors franchise is known for while adding a new action – the Mardan Rush. This action let’s players eradicate large numbers of foes by controlling special ‘Rush’ units (they can be mounted, ranged or melee) to deal major damage. The press release also reveals a couple of new characters (Jaswant – a former spy for the Shindra kingdom, and Kubart – a seasoned veteran of the Pars cavalry). There are also screenshots of two new stages (the Fortress of Kashan and the Citadel of Peshawar).

KOEI TECMO also announced preorder bonus details for the game. Those who preorder Arslan: The Warriors of Legend from GameStop & EB Canada will get a special costume / weapon and armor set for Daryun, as well as a new Free Mode scenario called ‘Conflict at Gujarat Fortress’. On the other hand, if you pre-order the game from Best Buy or Amazon, you get the new original Free Mode scenario, ‘Battle for the Title’. Both of these new scenarios offer players the chance to unlock a few very special Limited Skill Cards! These can give you that extra edge against your foes in battle!

About Arslan: The Warriors Of Legend

Originally written as a novel series in the late 1980’s, The Heroic Legend of Arslan has been adapted to manga and anime numerous times, with the most prominent being the 2013 release of a manga series by famed illustrator Hiromu Arakawa (the creator of Fullmetal Alchemist). It tells the story of the young crown prince of Pars, Arslan, as he is forced out of his kingdom when his father, the king, is betrayed and defeated and his domain conquered. Arslan and his few companions must reassemble an army and fight against overwhelming odds to regain his throne and liberate his kingdom. Through his exploits he reaches emotional maturity, while the series also tackles underlying issues of slavery, religious fanaticism, betrayal, and humanity.

The game adaptation of this magnificent story seamlessly blends the fast paced tactical action gameplay indicative of the Warriors franchise with a stunningly engaging narrative. Using cell-shaded graphics and basing all character design on the anime series Arslan: The Warriors of Legend delivers a gaming experience designed to fully immerse the player into Arslan’s universe!

About Michael Fontanini

Michael is a veteran gamer in my early 30s, who grew up around video games, with fond memories of the oldies like the NES and SNES. He loves Nintendo but also plays a lot of games on his PC. Michael also enjoys going for walks or bike rides, and loves animals.

Michael is also a computer programmer. This started with a toy he got as a kid called PreComputer 1000 that was made by V-Tech. It had a simple programming mode which is what started him down the road of being a programmer! Michael can program in BASIC, Visual Basic, C++, C#, and is familiar with Java and Lua Script.

Putting programming and gaming together, Michael became a hobbyist game developer which may give him some good insights on game development! Most recently, he has been playing with the free version of the Unity engine (a powerful and easy-to-use game engine).

I love Nintendo but I also play a lot of game's on PC, many of which are on steam. My favorite Nintendo game's include Zelda, Metroid, and Smash Bros to name a few. On PC I love the Half-Life games, as well as most all of the Source Engine games just to name a few.
