Xenoblade Chronicles X famitsu scan unions

There was a lot of new information published in the 10 page spread of Xenoblade Chronicles X in the latest Famitsu. Gematsu has translated this page which consists of information about Unions in the game.

At the beginning of the story, the goal is to survive the uncivilized planet of Mira. After meeting up with private military organization Blade, you’ll choose from one of eight affiliated unions, each with their own overarching objective to fill, and embark on quests. It’s possible to join a different union later. Unlike the linear progression of the original Xenoblade Chronicles, the successor’s story will unfold in various directions.

There are 8 Unions:

  • Pathfinder – In charge of data probe installation.
  • Interceptor – In charge of exterminating protists.
  • Avalanche – In charge of hunting down dangerous life forms.
  • Testament – In charge of the search and recovery of debris scattered by the ship, as well as the recovery of items lost on the battlefield.
  • Corepedian – In charge of visiting areas and investigation/collecting materials.
  • Land Bank – In charge of securing resources and collecting minerals.
  • Arms – Assists the Arms Company in charge of the development of Dolls and their inner weaponry.
  • Companion – A Jack of all trades, from the mediation of petty fights to the search of stray cats.

Not sure if I should start out as Arms or Avalanche; prolly will end up being companion on my first run :p

Sounds interesting, but I hope the less linear nature of it won’t take away from the story.

I’m guessing that joining and leaving unions will be easy later in the game. That way it is possible to complete the paths of all 8 unions. There is probably some kind of perk though for currently being in a specific union. The different perks provided would be more useful depending on where you are in the game. I’m thinking of something similar to certain skills in Xenoblade like better chest drop rates.

Pure speculation of course. I can already tell Xenoblade X is going to be full of content.

    • I imagine so.

I feel like if you join Arms, you will get quicker upgrades and more customization options from DOLL’s. Since a part of the description says you are basically helping with their development.

I got a feeling it will be a popular choice since people are gonna want cool mecha’s.

Either way it seems each Union really caters to different styles of players. From those who just like to explore and discover new areas, those who enjoy fighting enemies, to those who enjoy hunting specific creatures for drops, to mineral deposit collectors….

So they basically create quest paths that suit those types. I hope that the perks aren’t too over the top, but then again what would be the point if the perks didn’t match the work you were doing.

Whoa Avalanche! Well, not that avalanche…
    Pathfinder would suit me best.
But this is sounding more and more like a MMO

  • Damn, Companion sounds like my kind of Union. Fetching stray cats and keeping the piece is the way to roll!

  • Melinda

Companion or Corepedian sound great. Cannot wait for this game.
