Xenoblade Chronicles X

The official twitter for Xenoblade Chronicles X, which the staff including Director Takahashi use to share information about the game, has tweeted the following tweet. Roughly translated, it says not to worry about rushing to beat the first Xenoblade on the New 3DS, because the stories between the two are not directly related. Xenoblade for the New 3DS comes out in Japan on April 2nd. Xenoblade Chronicles X comes out in Japan on April 29th.

So there you have it. They are not directly related. I suppose it’s possible there could still be a surprise relation to Xenoblade but it’s looking less likely. It is strange though how similar the character shown in the original trailer looked to Shulk, but now it seems like it wasn’t Shulk after all.

Xenoblade Chronicles X has a target release of 2015 for the West but no specific date has been given. It can be pre-ordered now at Amazon.

Considering the plot of this game as compared to the ending of the first Xenoblade Chronicles, I did not think these games were connected. The was quickly confirmed at E3 2014 when one of the developers said that Xenoblade Chronicles X was only a spiritual sequel. I know Shulk was in the first trailer (no doubt it was him or someone who at least was meant to look like him), but we did not even know the title of this game at the time. I think that was the developers’ way of strongly hinting at what “X” was. I would be really happy if he did somehow make his way into this game. There are few things cooler than a badass nerd like Shulk.

      Could have been zanza xD

I think they’re probably related in the sense that most Final Fantasy games are related; some common themes/characters/enemies, but typically unconnected stories and universes.

    • Keichi Morisato

actually every FF game shares the same universe, just different planets in the sam universe. hell FFX is a prequel to FFVII, the Shinra’s leave Spira on a space ship and land in Gaia sometime after the fall of Genova.

Final fantasy IX explains how the world from VII and VIII eventually collide and form the world that is. All three have nothing in common.

  • ScienceNonfiction

Yeah it was already pretty obvious that they weren’t directly connected.

  • The character they showed vaguely in the original trailer was likely the player avatar. Which we’ve learned since can look like anything since we get to customize it.

That said they’ve now mentioned that the two stories are ‘not directly related’. Meaning there are clearly connected by some thread, but what thread will likely be vague, implied or even possibly the twist of the game.

*spoilers for anyone who hasn’t played, and plans to*

I’m actually leaning on the possibility that this game is set in the same universe created after Shulk reset the universe using the all the monado. Maybe eons and eons after who knows. Or perhaps this is a world before Xenoblades Chronicles reset (since some scientists actually destroyed the universe to reform it into the world we saw in the first Xenoblade). I think it’s one or the other in the end.

Really? Then what the heck are those rabbit things from the first game doing in there?!

    • Vinicius

The Nopon? Well, most FF are not related to the others, so why Chocobbos and Moogles appear in several games? Awser, because they are the mascots of the franchise.

      Tetsuo<Heropon Rikki

I don’t fully buy it , Why did they show a Nopon? I mean, Nopon never existed before the experiment. All life came from Zanza therefore Nopon too came from him. Either this game takes place parallel to the original or after Shulk’s reset….But hey all I have going for my theory is the appearance of 1 Nopon lol Who is obviously Riki, c’mon, I’m not the only one that thinks that’s Riki right?

The reason I bought a Wii U, if this game becomes scarce and I miss out, nintendo is in the shoebox. I already am sitting on a useless 3DSXL that can’t play xenoblade. Selling them all for the ouya!

I’m excited for the Xenoblade Chronicles re-lease on 3DS. Any chance of an “Operation Rainfall: 3DS Edition”? Would love to see Last Story 3D and Pandora’s Tower 3D
