Luminous Arc Infinity | oprainfall

Marvelous announced during Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia’s press conference that a new Luminous Arc title would be coming to the PlayStation Vita. Luminous Arc Infinity looks like it follows the strategy RPG mold of its predecessors. You can check out the teaser trailer below.

I would say we will find out many more details at Tokyo Games Show next week. I really enjoyed these games on the Nintendo DS and I hope that this one makes it over to our side of the world at some point.

About Steve Baltimore

Steve started with oprainfall not long after the campaign moved from the IGN forums to Facebook. Ever since, he has been fighting to give all non-mainstream RPGs a fair voice. As the site admin, he will continue to do this and even show there is value in what some would deem "pure ecchi." He loves niche games and anime more than anything... well, except maybe Neptune.

    Now I wonder if:
    A) This will get a NA/EU release
    B) Characters from the first three games make any cameos like with LA2 having LA1 characters popping up.

I waited and waited in vain for Luminous Arc 3 to launch on DS, and now they’re just forgoing the 3DS to bring us a Vita title?

Frankly, I’m a little insulted as a fan of the franchise. All I’m saying, it better come Stateside. I’m already frustrated at the developer for not finishing the localization on the DS trilogy.

    • Atralane

Agreed, I loved the first two entries of the series. Never seeing the third entry, plus now a fourth title switching to the Vita, is a bit of a bitter pill to swallow.

    • Giordan

Don’t be a “one-company only” kind of person, please.

    • Draco Breach

You did notice I said “it better come Stateside” right?

I’ll admit that if it were multiplat between Vita and 3DS I’d choose 3DS every time. I’m more frustrated that Marvelous! never localized the entire trilogy and now are opting out of the 3DS which would also give them the largest install base.

I will get this title on my Vita if it comes Stateside. I can still be disgruntled.

    • Giordan

JRPGs do better on Sony systems.

    • Draco Breach

Yep, and so many games on the 3DS prove it with absolutely horrible sales. You know; like Fire Emblem Awakening, Bravely Default, Yokai Watch 1&2, Pokemon X/Y, Mario & Luigi RPG 4, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, et cetera, et cetera.

Even the “low” selling niche games sell as well or better than expected – like Shin Megami Tensei IV, Devil Summoner, et cetera.

You’re making the same mistake Square Enix made when they hesitated to localize Bravely Default.

Now again, I am most certainly NOT saying I won’t get Luminous Arc Infinity if/when Marvelous! localizes it. I am simply stating they already have an audience on the 3DS which also has a larger install base.

    • Giordan

SMT IV didn’t do so well. It sold 190,000 units in NA. That’s not a lot.
Compare that to Persona 4 Golden, which sold half a million in NA.

    • Draco Breach

Sales (in millions) as of August 23, 2014:
      SMTIV: 0.20 NA, 0.49 worldwide

      P4G: 0.24 NA, 0.70 worldwide

I didn’t say the sold a lot. I said they sold at or above expectations.
