#7 – Vaati
Vaati first burst onto the scene in 2002 in Four Swords, the extra game mode included with the Game Boy Advance version of Link to the Past. A suitable replacement for Ganon from time to time, Vaati usually appears as a giant one-eyed bat-like monster, but Minish Cap introduced a humanoid version of the villain – the form that I would like to see in Hyrule Warriors. As a powerful sorcerer, Vaati would concentrate mainly on distance-based magic to lay waste to the enemy’s forces. For his more powerful attacks, he could even briefly transform into his familiar monster form to really lay down the hurt. If it were up to me, Vaati would be at the top of the list, but I guess that’s democracy for you.
#6 – Young Link (with masks)
Wait a minute! The battlefield is no place for a child! Even if he has a sword and shield… and masks that allow him to take on more powerful forms… OK, he can stay. I wouldn’t see Young Link playing all the differently from the adult version, at least initially. However, instead of the stronger moves that other characters could perform as they built up power, Young Link’s abilities would allow him to temporarily transform into his other forms from Majora’s Mask; put on the Goron Mask to flatten enemies as you roll around, use the Zora Mask to slice them up with your fins, or even use the Deku Mask to rain down Deku Nuts and stun the enemy forces. For your most powerful attack, transform into Fierce Deity Link to truly strike fear into the hearts of your foes. Of course, there’s more than one way to terrify your opponents.
#5 – Medli
In all honesty, Medli was the one I had the hardest time imagining how she might play in Hyrule Warriors. What could a girl equipped with nothing but a harp and the ability to fly possibly contribute? Actually… that sounds kind of fun. With the mobility inherent with her race of bird people, Medli could easily move about the battlefield, whacking enemies with her signature harp as she went. For more powerful moves, she could even amplify the power of the harp and decimate the enemy forces with powerful sound waves. It might seem like a longshot, but you never know. If Agitha can find her way into the game, why not the adorable duck girl?
