Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate - Nintendo Direct (North America) 2014-02-13 | oprainfallCapcom was incredibly generous to Monster Hunter fans during this years E3. A nice pile of screens, monster/weapon details, and a swanky new trailer for the upcoming Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate were released just before the dawn of the much-awaited conference. If you missed out on them, we have them here for your viewing pleasure. And if you made it out to E3 2014, then you were able to get your hands on the adrenaline pumping demo of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. One thing missing that, myself included, was expected was a “surprise” reveal of a Wii U iteration being launched alongside the 3DS version. Capcom did it with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate to a wild success, so why not do the same with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, right?

Well, sadly, during some comment chatter on Capcom’s Unity blog, it was revealed that, currently, there aren’t any plans for a Wii U release of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. BUT before the doom and gloom takes over you, it’s really not such a bad thing. This time around, online play is actually available on the 3DS unlike Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. And if you have a handy-dandy Circle Pad Pro, then you’re basically getting the same experience. So even though you won’t be able to experience the game with fancy HD visuals, it’s still a solid package that, I assume, would be completely identical to a console counterpart due to online play and Circle Pad Pro support. If you’re a dreamer, like myself, then MH4U’s early 2015 release date leaves plenty of time for Capcom to change their mind, but this is just speculation.

What do you, fellow hunters out there think about this news? Upset? Numb? Couldn’t care less? Whatever it may be, leave us a comment expressing your thoughts down below.
