Mother 3 Screenshot 1

Well, this is officially a thing now! Shigesato Itoi just announced on his Twitter that he’s working on something related to the Mother franchise. According to the translation from Earthbound Central, his “MOTHER republication” project is making some good progress. Though he didn’t explain what exactly it was, he was very quick to point out that this isn’t Mother 4. I was unaware that people were still asking him about a new entry in the franchise, but there you go.

“Since it’s now okay to blurt this out, here goes: the “MOTHER republication” thing I mentioned briefly before is making progress.”

“It’s not “(MOTHER) 4″, though! This has to do with making “MOTHER” playable. I can’t give out any details just yet, but I do at least need to say that it isn’t 4.”

Bear in mind that this is a quick translation, so it may not be entirely accurate, aside from Itoi denying that it’s Mother 4 anyway. Still, if what Itoi’s saying is true, there’s hope for this franchise yet. One can only hope that this is a compilation/re-release of all three Mother games. If it is, I sincerely hope it’ll make its way internationally this time around.

About Kyle Emch

Kyle has been studying music at college for about three years now. He's played the piano since he was 6 years old and has been recently been learning how to write music. He has followed the Operation Rainfall movement on Facebook since it started and was happy to volunteer for the website. Just don't mention Earthbound or the Mother franchise around him.
