htoL #NiQ: Hotaru no Nikki - Mion and Hotaru | oprainfall

After announcing their new game htoL #NiQ: Hotaru no Nikki (Firefly’s Diary) earlier this month, Nippon Ichi has released some more details about the PlayStation Vita title. In addition to some more information about the game, Nippon Ichi also released some screenshots and artwork, which are looking quite beautiful. Be sure to check them out in the gallery below, as this game certainly has a unique and artistic aesthetic.

htoL #NiQ: Hotaru no Nikki is due out in Japan this June 19th for the PlayStation Vita. In the game, the player controls a firefly named Hotaru, who must guide a young girl named Mion (pictured above, along with Hotaru) through the ruins she has been trapped in by lighting her path. Mion, unfortunately, has lost her memory, and cannot remember how she found herself in this dangerous place. There is another firefly named Kagehotaru who works alongside Hotaru to help guide Mion to safety. Hotaru guides Mion in the light world, and Kagehotaru guides her when she switches into the shadow world. The player much switch between worlds in order to guide Mion through obstacles. The game will utilize both the Vita’s touchscreen and touchpad to allow the player to guide Mion.

As htoL #NiQ: Hotaru no Nikki was announced fairly recently, there is no news yet as to whether or not this game will be localized for the West. But be sure to stay tuned to oprainfall for updates. And definitely check out some of the game’s gorgeous 2D artwork below.
