Tales of Zestiria | Official Logo FEATURED

In honor of the franchise’s twentieth anniversary, Namco Bandai offered Tales fans a special NicoNico livestream that’s been teased for a while now. The game to come out of this presentation is Tales of Zestiria, and it’s headed to the PlayStation 3.

Not much has been revealed yet (is anyone surprised by this?), but I can impart what little we know. Tales of Zestiria features two main characters—Slay and Alicia, respectively. The game takes place in Green Wood and focuses heavily upon elements of exploration.

The game will have a new battle system built from fan feedback. And hey—the story focuses heavily on dragons! Who doesn’t like a good fantasy story? Hideo Baba thinks that dragons symbolize fantasy; there’s a reason a dragon is shown in the logo for the new title. For those who are curious, the game will feature character designs from Inomata, Fujishima, Okumura, and Iwamoto.

I suppose that’s all there is to it, for the moment. We’ve compiled some screenshots from the presentation below, and you can visit the official site as well. Stay tuned for more information on Tales of Zestiria as we have it.

That’s it….I need a ps3 now. I was hoping they put it on the new systems like Wii u or ps4 so I have a reason to buy ps4.

  • Keichi Morisato

i am glad Kousuke did the character designs, and because of that, it is safe to assume that the Symphonia team worked on it, and i hope so because they always create the best character driven stories.

We might have to wait another year or two for localization after it’s released in Japan though. I read somewhere that Hideo Baba doesn’t have a localization team large enough to do a simultaneous release globally.

I’m fine with that. It’s just nice not wondering if we’re ever going to get it or not.

well looks like Namco wont be releasing any more tales games outside the ps3… pity as i really enjoyed Vespieria.

    • another_unknown

Yeah, its sad that Namco prefer to stay with exclusive releases for PS3, instead of a multiplataform game (PS3,360 and Wii U).

Graphics level and art style looks a bit too much like Ragnarok Odyssey. I wonder if they’ll port to Vita. Then again, considering how much Bammy loves PS3 and the success they apparently got, I’m surprised the 2 DS remake Tales game on Vita haven’t been ported to PS3. Also surprised there isn’t a HD remake of Tales of the Abyss with 3D support for PS3 as well.

Hideo Baba needs to be more honest and say that Tales of is a Playstation exclusive franchise and Tales of Studios is owned by Sony now.
