J-Stars Victory VS

It was recently announced that rival characters Vegeta, Sasuke and Zebra will be playable characters in the upcoming Weekly Shonen Jump themed fighting game, J-Stars Victory VS. Namco Bandai have released more screenshots of these new characters. In the new screenshots, we can see Vegeta, Sasuke and Zebra fighting their respective rivals. Players can probably expect to be able to recreate many fights from each character’s respective manga or anime. We will start off with Vegeta trying to defeat Goku on Planet Namek.

Vegeta (Dragon Ball Z):

Sasuke (Naruto):

Zebra (Toriko):

While we are at it, let’s take a look at Konoha Village from Naruto. This massive village is where Naruto Uzumaki began training to become a ninja and eventually fulfill his dream of being Hokage, who is considered to be the leader and strongest ninja of the village.  The previous Hokages’ faces have been carved into the mountain and will be watching over the many battles that will be occurring here. The village is pretty large so players will have plenty of room to maneuver and seek out their opponents. This village will definitely make for some interesting fights.

Vegeta, Sasuke and Zebra are not the only “Rivals” in the Jump universe. Hopefully, characters such as Hisoka (Hunter X Hunter), Takasugi Shinsuke (Gintama), or Hiei (Yu Yu Hakusho) will also end up being playable. Which other rivals or villains would you like to see announced as a playable character?

J-Stars Victory Vs. is in development for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. A release date has yet to be announced, so these screenshots are all we have to tide us over until the game eventually releases. For those of you who are worried that this will not be released outside of Japan, keep in mind that both systems in which the game is being developed for are region free which means that the game should work on any system. Also, fans are already beginning to translate parts of the game.
