Capcom Essentials - oprainfall

While the current generation of gaming is coming to its inevitable end, many gamers (including myself) are trying to catch up on some titles that we missed. To possibly help you and your gaming hobby out, Capcom is releasing the Capcom Essentials bundle for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 8. The generous bundle includes Resident Evil 6, Super Street Fighter IV, Devil May Cry 4, Dead Rising 2 and Mega Man 10 for a measly $59.99 (USD). When considering the price for all of those games upon their initial release was 60 bones apiece, it’s a pretty stellar deal. And hey, a nifty black Capcom traveling bag is even included in the Capcom Essentials package—to help you lug around your loot, of course.

Did any of you miss out on any of the titles listed in the Capcom Essentials bundle? If so, which titles, and do you think this warrants a purchase? As always, let us know in the comments!

The only game I have from that bundle is resident evil 6. Sounds like a good deal.

  • Andreas Bauer

I have Devil May Cry 4 and Mega Man 10… don’t feel like I missed anything by not getting the other stuff, but I might still buy that bundle, just because 😛 It’s never wrong to support good deals.

  • Pedro Rosas

    Dead Rising 2 = $13
    Resident Evil 6 = $17
    Super Street Fighter 4 = $10
    Devil My Cry 4 = $13
    Mega Man 10 = $10

    All of them = $63

    So….where is the value at?

    • Tyler Friedman

      The free bag.

ZING! Their great games(except for maybe RE 6), but I’m not seeing anything in there that I’m in a rush to get any time soon, don’t already have, or can’t get for cheaper since they’re older titles.

    • Andreas Bauer

don’t forget that this will drop a few bucks pretty quickly, too. So it won’t be $60 unless you buy it day 1. It’s a good offer IMO. Just remembered that Dead Rising 2 is banned here in Germany, so I’ll have to skip this one after all, importing would probably not be worth the extra money.

the only series I consider essential from Capcom is Breath of Fire. It’s a shame they don’t feel the same way.

  • Crapcom at it again

“Come revisit all the series that we’ve ruined!”

Seriously though you could buy each of these games individually for less. Don’t give Capcom a dime.

    • doomrider7

OUCH, though I do agree that you can get them for cheaper or at bare minimum similar prices. Hell, if you use the rewards system from GS you could get these games for about $50-55 just on the 10% discount alone never mind their X amount of dollars off coupons or their buy 2 get 1 free sales.

  • Alex Kraus

Oh, I was hoping MM10 would come on a physical disc.

    • Vinicius

I’m still waiting for them to release MM9 and 10 in a cartridge with all the DLC and other bonus.

    “Essentials” /airquotes
Aside from RE6, these games are decent (Of course I love Mega Man 10, but where’s 9 in that bundle?) but honestly, If I wanted the games at all, I’d rather have them individually in their own cases.

That’s just me though. They really didn’t do anything to push that these were good games in this set outside of “We’re Capcom, buy these games. Here you go.”
To make it worse for them, XBL just gave Dead Rising 2 (and Case Zero) away as a free game for August in their XBL gold deals. It’s still up, Go get it if you haven’t already.
So take away DR2, and you have even less of a “deal” with this when those other games are selling for less than 20 bucks each.
I love Capcoms definition of the words “Essential” and “Value”.
