Time and Eternity Toki and Towa

Time and Eternity, a PlayStation 3 exclusive, has been officially released today in North America and NIS America has released the game’s launch trailer to coincide with its release. The majority of the video shows off the game’s unique battle system, and demonstrates the ambitious nature behind Imageepoch’s conscious decision about the game having characters fully 2D in a 3D environment. You can check out the trailer below.

Time and Eternity was released in Japan last year, with the game released in the PAL region a few weeks before the North American release. We will have our  own full review of the game in the coming days. In the mean time, check out NIS America’s post on the PlayStation.blog for the full details about Time and Eternity.

Condolences to all who get snookered by this weeb trap.

    • You said that because you don’t like the game or because this game is not a Nintendo exclusive?

    • InfernalDinosaur

because it’s just an awful game

this is the kind of game people play in japan because it’s so awful.

The graphics style looks really cool! I don’t really get the battle system though, and it doesn’t seem to be my type… Not enough characters.

    • Alex

It looks good…in screenshots. But when you actually see it in action it looks like an amateur flash game.

    • multibottler0cket

Nah, I watched the video and it looks really good.

Well, what I’ve been wondering is why the 3D environments in this game look so sub-par in comparison with Imageepoch’s other games. Arc Rise Fantasia looked amazing on Wii, and Imageepoch has plenty of PSP games like Last Ranker and Sol Trigger that look great too. But when I look at this game… well, I don’t know if I’d say say it looks downright bad, but… the 3D environments just don’t look as polished as some of the stuff Imageepoch has put out in the past. I think the 2D character animations actually look pretty good though, and I’m still cautiously interested in the game.

I hadn’t noticed, I was too busy admiring the 2D animé characters! Still, this doesn’t look like my type of game. I love ImageEpoch, and I love the art style, but it looks like a button masher to me. If it had 3-5 characters and a turn based battle system or action with commands for other characters though I’d get it in a second.

I’ll save my money for Xillia. It has style, great gameplay, and at least servicleable storyline and characters.
