XSEED has released the first in a series of Rune Factory 4 ‘How To’ trailers, teaching newcomers the basic game mechanics. For those of you who have never touched a Rune Factory game, it is a spin-off of the Harvest Moon series. One of the main differences between the two series is that Rune Factory games also feature a bit of dungeon crawling and combat. Otherwise, the farming mechanics, along with the interaction with the NPCs that made the Harvest Moon series popular with fans, are still there in full force. You can build a farm, and even get married and start a family. Check out the trailer below:

Rune Factory 4 is coming out on August 13 for the Nintendo 3DS.

I love all of the Harvest Moon and Rune Factory Games, but I have gotten to the point in which playing this game means I’m not playing another 5 games because of how long it is or more exactly for how long it takes you to get tired of it.

I really like the ability to water, more than one 2×2 grid at once. It looked like there was a way to spend more energy and do a repetitive tasks one turn. I don’t know if that’s new. But I wasn’t able to do that in Rune Factory 1 or Frontiers. You threw 3×3 seeds at once in Frontiers though. Very cool video and awesome set up article!
