A slew of new games make the Top 20 on this week’s Media Create charts. However, it seems to stem from low sales from existing games, opening up spots for new games to jump in with little resistance. The only new game to show good numbers in its first week is Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen on the PS3, securing over 125,000 in sales. No other new game sold over 40,000.

Elsewhere in software, Friend Collection: New Life stays atop the Top 20 with nearly 145,000 in sales. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon gets the bronze with just under 39,000, leaving the game within striking distance of 600,000 lifetime sales. Top games for other consoles are Photo Kano Kiss (7th)—a dating sim on the Vita—Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon Portable (8th)—a PSP RPG based on the light novel series known in the West as Horizon in the Middle of NowhereDragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen for the Xbox 360 (13th), and Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Super Deluxe Edition (19th).

The only milestone of note comes from a game that is actually not on the list this week, although it was last week. Muramasa Rebirth, the updated Vita port of the original Wii game Muramasa: The Demon Blade, has reached the 100,000 mark after one month. This is noteworthy, since it is a much better showing than its Wii counterpart.

On the hardware side, it’s another down week, with sales topping just over 100,000 for all consoles. Again, most of that stems from the 3DS, as it fell by just over 20,000 in total sales. However, there was a significant gain by one console. The Vita was able to rise up and secure over 21,000, better than the 15,000 it had sold last week. Also worth noting is that the Vita has just passed 400,000 sold this year, over 165,000 more than were sold in the same time frame last year. (Remember, Sony has been selling the Vita in Japan since December 2011, not February 2012 like the rest of the world.)
