Nintendo Direct

Despite the fact that E3 is less than two months away, Nintendo maintains its steady stream of reveals and new information through Nintendo Direct presentations. Today, we have confirmation that the 3DS will be the focus of the next Nintendo Direct, as well the date and time the live-stream will be broadcast.

The North American presentation begins April 17, at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET, while a European version of the event will start at 3 p.m. UK time on the same day.

Exactly what will be shown during this Nintendo Direct is unknown, but it is likely Nintendo will show off Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D ahead of their releases in the coming months. Of course, there are several high-profile 3DS exclusives that have yet to be announced for localization in the West, and this could be Nintendo’s chance to reveal them and give them time to shine prior to the hustle and bustle of E3.

Let us know your expectations for this Nintendo Direct in the comments down below, and don’t forget to check back on Wednesday for all the details from the event.

About Brodie Dayton-Mills

Brodie is an amateur writer schlepping his way through school and towards the film and video game industries. He joined oprainfall as an author, but quickly chiseled out his niche on the graphics team. When he's not playing Kingdom Hearts or Fire Emblem, chances are he's watching British sci-fi.

  • I’d like to see a Metroid Prime Hunters sequel on 3DS. Seriously, that thing would be a killer multiplayer game for the system. As for why this is so close to E3, my guess would be is that Nintendo wants to focus their presence at the event on the Wii U. So, this Nintendo Direct is probably to get most of the big 3DS news out of the way so they can get ready for E3.

My money’s on a Corruption spin-off called Metroid Prime 3: Dread featuring Gandrayda, Rundas, and Ghor as playable characters. It’d have the requisite “3D” in the title and could finally have something come of all those “project Dread” hints.

With any luck, this is a Bravely Default & Dragon Quest 7 announcement for surprisingly soon release.

Bravely Default, and hopefully something on MH4. Maybe Etrian Odyssey V, though I doubt it since it was only just announced in Japan. And I reckon Europe will get a release date for EOIV.
