RPG Maker VX Ace is 50% off on Steam as part of its Midweek Madness. This might be the chance for all you aspiring video game developers out there who are looking for a way to create an RPG but don’t have extensive knowledge of programming. While most of the RPG’s produced with these kind of programs are arguably awful, you still get the occasional gem like To the Moon, which was made with RPG Maker XP for example.
I myself have played around with RPG Maker 2003 as a kid and, as long as you can read, you shouldn’t have too many problems with its basic handling. Advanced features, writing your own scripts, etc., naturally require some practice and creativity. You can get the program on Steam here. Alternatively, if you’re not sure yet whether you want to shell out $35 for the program, there is a trial version available on the official homepage. They apparently need an email address and name from you if you plan on getting the trial. You shouldn’t dawdle too long, though. This deal only lasts until Friday, the 8th of March.
